When Brother Selvin prayed for tile for the church floor, he didn’t tell anyone but God. What happened next is a beautiful reminder that our Father still hears, still provides, and still delights in surprising His people with more than they could ever imagine.
✍️ The Story
One afternoon, Brother Selvin and I were talking about the faith of George Mueller, the missionary known for trusting God alone to provide for every need. Selvin shared that he had already made the same decision: to stop seeking provision from others and instead ask only that God would supply what was needed.
At the time, the church building where he serves was still unfinished. They were hoping to find tile for the floor, but there was no budget left. So Selvin prayed, “Lord, if You want us to have tile, please provide it.”
Days went by, and quietly, God began to move. One of the brothers from the church who works at a local bank had a man come in to do business. During their conversation, the man mentioned that he had some tile he wanted to donate to a church.
When the brother heard this, he knew exactly where it should go. The tile was beautiful ceramic, and when it was delivered, it fit the building perfectly—just the right amount, just the right style.
“Isn’t it amazing how God does immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine?”
Today, when you step into their church, the gleaming tile floor doesn’t just reflect light—it reflects faith. It tells the story of a God who still hears, still provides, and still cares about the details.
