Stephan Vallejo-Director of Honduran Affairs

Stephan is a fresh face to Hope for Tela.  He is a pastor, musician and translator and has a heart for people and is on site in Tela, where he comes alongside area churches with teaching, leadership and administration.  He is also helping to organize events for short term mission teams.

Vicky Vallejo-Board Member

Vicky has a Master Degree in Technology management, She is on site with her husband Stephan, she’s a skilled seamstress and teaches sewing classes to our sewing students in the small business loan program; She’s also bilingual and helps with translation.

Rodney Baldus-Board President

Rod has a Bachelor in Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management, and taught culinary arts until his retirement in 2010. As our resident chef, he will see to your dietary needs and help to direct team events. Rod will also support construction and community outreach in the Tela area.

Carmen Baldus-Board Member

Carmen has a Doctorate in Psychology and is licensed in Michigan.  She has a heart for marriage and family and provides individual and group counseling experiences. Carmen is a Registered Play Therapy Supervisor and provides trainings for pastors, teachers and parents.  She helps host the teams that come to serve alongside the local churches.  She is passionate about prayer and loves God’s word.

Brian Dykes-Board Member

Brian has his Masters in Counseling, and was previously a pastor. He is skilled with addictions, pastoral care, relationship counseling and men’s issues.  Brian speaks at various churches in the Tela area and leads sessions during our retreats.

Regan Dykes-Board Secretary

Regan is an artist and loves helping people to develop their creative side. She will present various art activities throughout the time she is in residence. She will also lead community-based projects that involve the arts.

Dan Wheat-Board Treasurer

Dan has 41 years of financial experience as a banker and takes care of the financial needs of our mission. He is a worship leader and will lead or assist in worship times. He loves people and will help with construction and other community development projects.

Karen Wheat-Board Member

Karen has a heart for service through the medical field. She leads up and helps to organize some of our medical outreach. She is also a prayer warrior and will help with the prayer team. Karen encourages physical fitness and will lead in exercises that involve helping to keep you in good shape.

Lindsey Ferguson-Board Member

Lindsey is a special education teacher in Michigan and helps coordinate and lead short term mission teams who provide educational training in Honduras.  She has been on several trips to Honduras. Lindsey is passionate about her faith and the people of Honduras.

Benjamin Ferguson-Board Member

Benjamin is a training technician in the human resource department of the United States Postal Service.  He is married to Lindsey and together they have a passion for doing God’s work in Honduras.  He envisions helping with the various training programs and construction projects as they are underway.

Ray Vargo-Board Member

Ray is a CNC programmer, and he has served in missions for over 30 years, working in Russia, Haiti, India, and Honduras. He has a servant’s heart and is a “jack-of-all-trades.” He has served in his local church and on the boards of several international missions.

Lorelei Vargo-Board Member

Lorelei is a business consultant and has serviced in missions over 30 years, working in Russia, India, and Honduras. She has a passion for empowering women with the Gospel of Christ. She is a mother of 4 children, and 9 grand-blessings.
